Our nautical wood map of Martha’s Vineyard begins with a block of high-quality cork. An artist uses the measurements from a bathymetric chart to determine the depth of the water around the island and then carefully etches each topographical line into the surface of the cork. A piece of laser-cut high-quality birch in the exact shape of the island is placed onto the cork, adding additional depth to the wood chart. Points of interest and other destinations are engraved into the wood’s surface, adding the perfect complement to the etching in the cork.
